Chasin' Tails Guide Service – Rockport, Texas

Welcome to Chasin’ Tails Guide Service, a locally owned and operated fishing charter based in beautiful Rockport, Texas. As a full-time Rockport resident, I spend countless days on the water, allowing me to closely track fishing patterns based on tidal movement, weather, and wind conditions. This local expertise gives us a serious advantage when it comes to putting you on fish.

Our trips take place in the scenic flats and bays around Rockport, where we specialize in sight fishing in extremely shallow water from a poling skiff. We target a variety of species including redfish, black drum, speckled trout, flounder, and sheepshead.

My passion lies in fly fishing and sight fishing, but we gladly accommodate anglers of all styles and skill levels. Whether you prefer fly fishing, conventional tackle, or wade fishing, we’ll tailor the trip to suit your preferences.

Over the years, my fishing adventures have taken me across the globe—from the flats of Belize and The Bahamas to the rivers of Scotland, Germany and Italy , the coasts of Australia and New Zealand, Costa Rica and The Yucatan of  Mexico,  and waters throughout the U.S. including Alaska, Puerto Rico, Florida, Colorado, Washington State, Oregon, Montana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, New Mexico  and the Pacific Northwest. These experiences have taught me valuable lessons that I look forward to sharing with you on the water.

We proudly practice catch, photo, and release to help preserve our incredible fisheries for generations to come.

At Chasin’ Tails Guide Service, we run top-tier Texas-made boats designed for performance, comfort, and versatility in the unique waters of the Texas coast.

Our primary skiff is a custom-built B&D Boatworks Poling Skiff, crafted in Seadrift, Texas. This skiff is purpose-built for the ultra-shallow flats of the Texas coast. Its sleek design allows us to quietly pole through skinny water in search of tailing redfish, while still delivering a dry, comfortable ride across open bays. The design and craftsmanship of this skiff are truly unmatched—perfect for serious sight-fishing anglers looking for precision and performance.

When the conditions or guest preferences call for it, we also run a Stoner Super Cat built by Stoner Boatworks in Flour Bluff, Texas. With over 50 years of boat-building experience, Robert Stoner has created a boat that offers both comfort and stability. The Super Cat is ideal for anglers who prefer a more relaxed approach to fishing, and it comfortably accommodates two anglers.
